Mary Petro

Mary Petro is a full service realtor concentrating on the Westport, Weston, Fairfield, Norwalk and Wilton markets. A recipient of numerous sales awards, Mary believes consistent focus on client needs combined with detailed knowledge of the market place is the formula for a successful real estate transaction. A Certified Relocation Specialist and Previews Specialist, she has the training and experience in both marketing and negotiation to confidently guide clients through the most complicated transactions.

A Chicago native, Mary Petro came to Connecticut to attend Yale University and fell in love with the beauty and rich cultural life of Fairfield County. Mary had always dreamed of living near the water and finds her beach house in Fairfield to be the perfect combination of relaxed beach living and convenience to the city.

As an opera singer, Mary traveled all over the world working and studying with some of the greatest musicians of our generation. While the Opera is a glamorous and exciting pursuit, it is a vagabond life and Mary found herself longing for home and hearth. She became a Realtor in 2002. People might wonder how a person trained as a musician becomes a realtor. Think of the old joke, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice!” It is that dedication, hard work and consistent attention to the ever changing market place that both inspires and drives Mary to excellence. She finds a great deal of satisfaction when her clients catch their breath because they just “know” they’ve found the place they can call home. Mary ’s interests have always been art, language, architecture, music, literature…in essence, the humanities. And there is something so irrevocably human about nesting and finding the place you belong.

Still an active member of the arts community, Mary performs regularly with the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. She has performed as a soloist locally and abroad with organizations such as The Kennedy Center, The Norwalk Symphony, The Chappaqua Orchestra, The Taconic Opera, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Garden State Philharmonic and (yes!) Carnegie Hall.

Mary combines her passion for homes and community as a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity both as a fundraiser and hands on building site volunteer. She has participated in two completed projects in Bridgeport and looks forward to the start of a new project in Stamford in the summer of 2009. For Mary, matching people with homes is both a business and a passion!
