As Realtors, we at KMS Partners are well aware of Westport’s virtues. We tell anyone who will listen about our town’s beauty, recreational facilities, great schools and artistic offerings. But sometimes it takes an outsider’s eye to make us sit up and really say: “Wow!”
More than a dozen of those “outsiders” came to Westport the other day. They were Corcoran Realtors, Coldwell Banker’s New York City colleagues, here for our special “Previews Open House Event.” All day long – as we drove them from the train station to four of our luxury market “Previews” homes, and all around town – they helped us look with fresh eyes on the wonders that surround us.
KMS Partners office manager Lisa Passavant arranged a special program. Each listing agent showed off their house. The high-end details and extra amenities (like water views) wowed our city guests. (Fantastic spring weather was an added bonus.)
One of our KMS Partners’ luxury listings was a featured property. The team hosted agents at 15 Green Acre Lane, a beautifully detailed, modern 6 acre estate in the heart of Westport. It’s close to town yet it’s a very private resort-like property. This special home was recently featured on NBC’s Open House NYC.
But we were especially intrigued by their reactions to a few things we sometimes take for granted.
For example: Longshore blew them away. They marveled at the links golf course. They loved the sailing school, tennis courts, pool and restaurant.
“How much does it cost to join?” one New Yorker asked.
When he learned it was a town facility, he replied, “Your taxes pay for this? And they’re reasonable too!”
Another realtor was awed by our 27-acre Winslow Park, a few steps from downtown. He has two dogs. We suspect we’ll see him (and them) romping there someday soon.
Several of our New York colleagues compared Westport to the Hamptons. We don’t have an ocean or dunes, of course – but the shorter commute was impressive.
The focus was not just about Westport. KMS partner Mary Ellen Gallagher gave a presentation to the guests about that town; Susan Seath talked about Fairfield, and Laurie Morris discussed Weston.
When the Corcoran realtors boarded the train back to the city, they had smiles on their faces.
They’d had a full day. They’d learned a lot about this area.
And – as KMS Partners clients know so well – they discovered how much we do “above and beyond” the call of duty.
Lucky for us, we get to do it in a very special place.
